Tagged under: Kampong Bahru, Strangers' Reunion
Strangers' Reunion is located at 37 Kampong Bahru Road and was opened by Singapore National Barista Championship winner Ryan Tan.
I have actually been to the cafe twice, once in November 2013, and another just recently.
When I first went to the cafe, their menu was particularly limited since they only served the all-day breakfast set till 5pm.
Their coffee was fantastic, but the Fried Chicken Breast sandwich which I've ordered wasn't that delicious, neither did the chilli sauce nor the asian vegetable brings along anything special to the sandwich. The service from the staff however was fantastic.
That said, I have returned to the cafe recently to try their buttermilk waffles after hearing several positive reviews about it. They had made some changes to their old menu and there are more variety of food available now.
The Buttermilk Waffles with Vanilla Ice Cream & Fresh Fruits ($12.90), was indeed not to be missed! Even though there were a range of mixed reviews online, the waffle that I had was really good. The vanilla ice cream was so smooth and matched really well with the mixed fresh fruits and waffle. The texture of the waffle was great and still fluffy in the inside.
Even though I arrived at around 9pm, there was still a short queue formed outside the cafe. Hence, be prepared to queue a little! That said, good food is always worth the queue.
Will I drop back the cafe again? Absolutely. I would certainly love to try their new dishes in the dinner menu and also their Buttermilk Waffles with greek yogurt.
